Is there a prize for the closest guess? Running flat out I'd guess at 2 tonne per day assuming 4Kwh/Kg embedded energy in the wood and a boiler that runs at 50% efficiency.

We have a 200kw log boiler and we are using 3m3 of 20 per cent or less larch wood every 24hrs which registers 3000 kW on the meter.

So equates to approx. 1.5 tonnes roundwood / 24 hrs. You can appreciate the returns possible burning quality fuel.

Thanks for the data.

At what moisture content?

At what moisture content?

KWh/Kg has a direct relationship with wood moisture %.

4KWh/Kg equates to 20% wood moisture content - 4KWh being the amount of energy a Kg of wood produces at 20% moisture when burnt in a 100% efficient appliance.

Think you are over estimating what a cube of dry logs weigh. I would be surprised if 3 cube of dry larch was more than a tonne.

Has anyone on the Forum got a 175kw wood fired Batch Boiler heating a 40ft shipping container to dry firewood?

Can you advise on the fuel consumption / 24hrs burning 'dry' wood as fuel in the boiler?

Thanks

I thought you had a boiler

Apologies, lapse of concentration - I was thinking roundwood to processed ratio 1:2 approx.

Dried down to 20% MC do you agree 3-4 m3 per tonne?
