Greemech 220

Looking around for a new chipper, I've always eschewed GM because of some bad experiences with hired machines (in the last century admittedly!)

Blocked up with conny with that disc cutting system.

This 220 looks the business, looking at the specs it has a nice sounding 50hp engine.

Looks like a genuine step up from the old TW150 (which I won't hear a word against BTW!)

 

Anyone got one? Want to give us a bit of feedback.

Not personally used one but did consider buying one as there is one for sale local to me. Looked good and built like a tank, biggish infeed.

 

Thought it was quite a LONG chipper and wouldnt fit in my garage i dont think.

 

Weigh 1380kg 50hp engine, i think one would be great but i bought a jensen a530t instead though

Does look long, that wouldn't be an issue, I like the idea of a clutch and a heavy flywheel.

Sounds like it would last till I retire (51 years old)

We got both of the above machines and they are both excellent machines for what they are .

Our 220 is a pto model driven off a 1250 mog. 125hp doesn't drop a rev.

This machine has really helped us drive our business forward now we have a second team. 220 is really well made. Very solid capable machine. Would definitely get another.

I had a 220 for years, they are ok, well built, but to be honest the GM 1928 will keep up with the 220 thanks to its letterbox infeed (7.5x11") same engine on most of them too. Id take the 1928 to be honest.

I ran a 220 for a few years, bloody good machine well built and easy enough too work on, traded it against a tracked chipper but wish I still has it.

Thing is once you break past 750kg you might as well blast past.

There is a 2007 one with 700 hours on for 6850 plus vat. Just for reference

My 1928 weighs about 1300kg, I think the 220 was 1400, so not much in it really. I would definitely demo a 1928, the infeed is a couple of inches wider than the 220, so you can feed more in at once, the 220 may be better for big timber, but we never really chip much above 6".
