i would say that makitas are blue versions of dolmars, surely dcs stands for dolmar chain saw, im sure tcd and shavey will correct me if im wrong, great saws whatever the colour !

back to op tho, do you really need a full pro saw for cutting firewood ?

I think you're splitting hairs somewhat, but yes you're correct, Makita bought Dolmar in 1991. So technically it's a Dolmar in blue. However technically it's been a Makita for the last 14 years all said and done.

Like you said, great saws whatever the colour :thumbup1:

I think the OP is right wanting the best they can afford. It'll work better, take less time and last longer. Plus it'll have a resale value you just don't get with cheap homeowner tat which becomes worthless after you've fired it up and got it dirty.:001_tt2:

There is no comparison, the 261 is slower, less power and a smaller displacement with not much weight difference to the 560!

The 560 is nuts! It uses a far superior design and better tech. It's weak point is the Stihl-made zama carburettor.

It runs better with the larger clutch drum too, either as .325-9t or 3/8-8t.

TCD, surely by now, you've got to have figured, dolmar doesn't have the presence that Stihl and husky have, so people don't consider it. It could be the best brand of saw in the world (it isn't), but without market presence, that counts for nothing.

I have a DCS4301 which is a great little saw and cost me around £280

I have no problems with the saw, it is very gutsy and well built, although I've had to rewind the pull start spring which shat itself within a year...

yes def the pokiest 43cc saw i've used. light too. with a sharp chain i'd believe it was a 50cc!

Morning Eddy. Sorry to change the thread a bit .just a quick question. Is the 372 going to be replaced with a 572 ? If it is then I won't buy now I'll hang on a bit

You'll be waiting a fair while, the saw is still being tested by third-parties, so unless you can wait until mid next year, I'd go with the 372. It's a brave man who buys the first saw too!
