Just a quick addition . If you want to up the gearing with the least amount of fuss an 8 pin .325 will run a standard 18" chain loop . If you go 9 pine you may have to add a driver or two ....

 

 

One, don't add 2, you get next to no adjustment!

 

Rich, you can run the saw on whatever combo you feel most comfortable on, I know my colleagues don't like my 560 as its a nutter! I would recommend trying out different combinations to find what works best for you.

id be inclined to get a 461, 441 are a bag of nails,wich is what i will get wen i replace my 362,

My 441 is nice on a 20" revvy and plenty quick enough. 5" more bar size and it's pathetic.

That said I would have preferred a 372 or 461, but I paid £400 for mine and it was only on its second chain.

Thanks Jonny I dropped a size saw for this winter and gone for a 560 , then next winter I be looking seriously at the 461. I seen one working Thursday and yes they got lots of grunt and seems easy to work with

To be fair, I half agree with you. Next to the 460 it's the lesser saw. You can lean on the 460 and treat it like the brute it is. You have to be a bit more gentle with the 441, and let it cut it's own way. Despite this it's a good saw, if you can change the way you treat it a little. Were you running it on a 20" or 25"?
