Picture 4 is an elwell 4988 it was given to me by an old lady whos brother was a top forester, i think the top edge is to de-bark and the L edge is for cutting off low branches to get your straight clean stems:001_smile:

Class items.

 

'Falling for it' by Geoff Surtees gives a great account about working in the woods when the first chainsaws appeared. And they weren't made by Husky or Stihl!

my dad said the axes he used were sharp enough to shave with if you dare ,they used sell/swap all the off cuts for beer/food as rasherning was still on :sneaky2: then bonk the landlady daughter get her in the club & marry her Oh thats my mum:blushing:

The man who i speak of was called the man of the woods he went to work monday morning and come home friday he slept in the woods under a tarp. His sister has a newspaper cutting from the times talking about his job:001_smile:
