Took our new Alaskan mill for a spin today. Have some good sized douglas that seemed a shame to bash into firewood so going to try and put some of it to good use.

Had seen pictures of winching. First cut was really hard going then decided to cut down hill. Made an amazing difference. If your winching can you keep even pressure on the mill at the beginning and end of the board?

Remember that difference when you first cut down hill? Times that by 10 and that's what a winch is like.

I don't use the winch for the first or last 6" or so, easy once you try it
