Do not for get to feed the birds in this cold weather

Feeding the birds at home and going through seed like it is going out of fashion. I also have feeders in my wood for the pheasants, they are eating loads of wheat and there are loads of pheasants that have come from somewhere. Love to listen and see the birds

I have a goldfinch sitting on her nest in my hedge. Theres a niger seed feeder in my front garden but we're going to put one in the back garden, right near the nest, so she doesn't have to work too hard. Looking forward to baby goldfinches in the garden, hopefully :thumbup1:

They love the birch seed as well when it falls ...

We have had Goldfinches before but hasn't seen any this year, we have Greenfinches & Robins by the dozen. I always thought Robins were territorial but we have sometimes Four at once.

Thats interesting Stubby, thanks. I didn't know that. Can you buy birch seed for birds?

Dunno . Gold finches I was refering to . Some times I wonder were they have got to as I have niger/thistle seed and sunflower hearts out the back and they are all over the birch trees out front . :001_smile:

Well thats amazing - they seem to love the niger seed here. The feeder empties fast and I've not seen anything other than goldfinches eating it.

I have seen the odd sparrow have a peck at the niger seed now and then but only because the other feeders busy but mostly unique to the gold finches . They like the husked sun flower hearts just as much here .
