I have to say that I love christmas, not the presents, but the atmosphere. The decorations, food, chance to put my feet up and not feel guilty.

BUT, when it all starts a month or more in advance, by the time christmas comes, I'm tired of it!

I think its a sign of the times, rather than being a couple of days of rest and celebration to brighten up the winter, its a big indulgent show:thumbdown:

I now realise posting this thread this early was a BAD idea :)

It certainly wasn't intended to wind people up.

In the course of my work I have booked 130 fundraising events for our charity (carol singing and bag packing etc...) this December so I know more than most about Christmas overkill........ I still love it though and manage to keep myself from getting too jaded about the whole thing.

And when I think about it I'm thankful not spending it somewhere like Syria or worse.

Don't feel it was a bad idea Timon,

It's the world we live in that Christmas seems to start earlier every year.

I noticed on sky tv there was a Xmas music channel on there a few weeks ago !

Nice one Rob! Perhaps the thread will "ripen" when it gets nearer the time :)

Well for me Christmas means something a bit different.

There's a local charity radio station which runs for 4 weeks every year ending on the afternoon of Christmas eve which means it kicks off this Thursday. Last year we raised £60,000 for third world charities and since it's inception it's raised over a million pounds.

I do the sound desk on it in the evening and my first shift is this Saturday from 8.30pm till midnight. Then it's pretty much every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evening from now till Christmas, probably be a few others to fill in as well as I'm on the "emergency" rota too.

So by the time Christmas day comes I'm well ready for a rest and some peace and quiet but sort of content as well.
