It's too late now, but I would of said just undo it spray with carb cleaner replace seal buy slipping it over sump, smear with silicon then tighten up evenly mate, taken the engine out is a lot of work I'd of done anything to avoid that but good luck with truck hope you get it sorted and some new mates too lol

The sump was corroded :thumbdown: this is a bad Hilux, in the year boss man has had it it's had..new rear springs air con pump power steering pipes exhaust 4 tyres front brakes plus I'm changing the timming belt and water pump:thumbup1:

Its definately looking like a Landrover in that pic :001_smile: Although the list above looks like an average week on a discovery 4 should be ok when done. The 2008 d4d engine can have a habit of leaking on the injector seals and the carbon gets in the oil and blocks the sump strainer so well worth checking and cleaning while its off.
