I sell both seasoned and unseasoned logs, but try to educate my customers to buy unseasoned logs and season the logs themselves (space permitting). I find most are quite amenable to the idea as it saves them money and they also find it spreads their cost better over the year as they're not just buying them all in the winter when they're burning them. I also have plenty of customers who are quite happy to burn unseasoned - myself included.

I must be in wrong area as they seem to be buying of the expensive guys who spout total rubbish about being seasoned for a year, when they only bought them 4 months ago in length's. Claiming to be hetas assured, all logs are British sourced and a builders bag is 1 cubic meter. I suppose with about 20 years selling logs what do I no. But I do have alot of regular customer's who are very happy with what I sell and I cannot be doing with picky plonkers who know everything about firewood which they learned of the internet

Couldn't agree more

It's not your job to educate, but make money. The people that pay your bills only care about £'s not wether it's sustainable, environmentaly friendly, or what else. You'll do your head in, move on.

I think you might be missing the point here. The way to make (more) money is through education and marketing. As an industry its all our responsibility to try and educate. Not everyone wants to hear it, so let them go and buy rubbish. Peop-le round here don't come back if they've had a bad/wet load. As for volume/weight etc. sell the customer what they want. Do the conversion for them and tell them the tonne price if that is what they want

Did you manage to get hold of a copy

No - failed I'm afraid. Should be easy to knock one up though. If I get a spare minute I'll get one produced at work as a pdf and share the template here so that anyone who wishes can use it and just add their logo and contact details to it. Give me a week or so and I should have it sorted

Welly boots will stink and smoke,

Pallet wrap your flu will choke

But tyres treaded or tyres bald

Will keep away the winter's cold.

Burning tapes and DVDs,

Will cause your ecofan to seize.

A gallon of petrol in the grate,

Will put you in a terrible state.

But tyres white or tyres black,

Will warm your aching back.

Plastic bottles, tubs and spoons

Your neighbours will complain of fumes

But tyres old and tyres new

Will finish them off with acrid plumes.

So far today had 4 folk wanting to order logs. Every blooming one of then asked if I would knock a tenner off cos it's Christmas and they have presents to buy BLAH blah blah. Explain to them that I have 2 small kids and bills to pay and Christmas to pay for they just laugh and say that I must be coining it in. 3 of the 4 said they would call some other suppliers and get back to me. Have barred their numbers from phone. Can't be bothered with attitude like that

Am I cutting off my nose to spite my face?
