Ah when someone gives you the easy jobs

So the banksia stump has pushed the plot out, so they want the stump out and the plot put back.

Really sensitive sort of job, and of course we have to be super careful. Dont want to disturb anything, stumps only a bit over a foot round

Easy........right?

Will post pics when done, but how would you guys tackle it?

Dig around it just below ground level then chainsaw multiple lines done to the required depth.cut out lined sections then shamfer of top using tip of chainsaw then chemicaly inject. Take bout 30 mins.

Use a mattock "carefully" expose it below ground level. Like shires says criss cross cuts with a saw and chip away at it with a mattock and apply root killer. The biggest danger is damage to the head stones so whoever is using the mattock needs to have a very good eye/swing.

I wouldn't worry about unearthing any "remains". They will be much deeper.

Hope this helps.

A couple of old chains sharpened up would be handy.

Sometimes a brush and bucket of water to wash soil/stones off the stump below ground level can preserve the chains a bit longer, otherwise you will blunt them instantly.

Hope it goes well.

Can't they just leave it to rot. Hell, it's not long for this world and surrounded by the dead. Kinda fitting me thinks. Or is the mad world of 'H+S' having its day?
