Cheers mate. Missed this when you posted. I don't have any timber down at the moment. Trying to work out how to drag it out of the wood. Maybe we'd can hook up in the future.

Great thread...I have sold logs from Roadside...back of my truck...in the Pub etc...just a sackful here and there.Something very satisfying about giving something that will warm someone up and bring a smile to their face.

has anyone heard about needing buisness rates or registering with local council's for the patch of land where you sell eggs and logs outside a domestic dwelling ,as someone i know has had a letter from the council about selling eggs and produce they have had a form to fill out about what they had been selling :thumbup:

I live on a farm so would assume that eggs come under an ag product sold 'at farm gate'. Maybe they would look at Logs differently. Best to just have a go and see what happens. You ain't going to jail for flogging stuff off your garden. Worst that can happen is some arse shuts you down.

Well said. Or they will sell you 6 permits and demand you go four courses to get 6 Certificates that will run out in 2 years.

Hi we sell logs from the gate about 2000 nets a year, each net has 18 logs .

I think the most important thing with selling log from the gate is to keep them dry, always have logs for sale summer and winter . We do have the odd net that does not get paid for but on a whole most customers are very honest.

thanks chris
