Just an update in case everyone thought I had abandoned the spoon thang

After several attempts with too seasoned wood (someone suggested it would be good so I thought I'd try, many hours and plasters later I decided it wasn't), I took a bit of cherry from a tree we worked on the other day and had a go. Just thought I'd upload a picture of the rough shape I've got so far, seems to be much easier than before :001_smile:

Cool Jen !

How do you smooth the hollow bit of the spoon though, must take ages

Thanks everyone, I was anticipating a barrage of criticism but apparently not :001_tongue::biggrin:

I use this to carve out the spoony shape Greenman Bushcraft - Cutting Tools > Frosts 162 Bushcraft Spoon Carving Knife, it took a lot more time and effort than the rest of the spoon, I don't know if that's normal or if I haven't quite got the technique for that yet.

If you mean smooth as in properly smooth, I have no idea how that will happen yet :confused1::001_smile: any tips anyone?
