Wow! How safe is that? I can imagine the pilot needing to keep the heli directly above the tree with a bit of tension but not too much or else the tree would be all over the place with you in it. Semi static line? Looked really well done.

 

the pilot would be putting around 1000 to 1200 kgs tension on the line I'm thinking as you can see the cuts rip a little with the weight of the lean and with the helicopter tension it will be more clear with vids from lifts further down the tree.

Its safe, just as safe as using a crane , if not more so depending totally on the pilot

Unfortunately, here further north in NRW, we don't have anything that exciting. One crane dismantle every couple of months is all we get...

You're in Heidelberg aren't you? What are the laws like on tree felling like down there? Im still getting to grips with it, one state says october with certain permissions, the other couldnt care less. Confusing!!

 

Next time you have a heli dismantle, give a shout, i'll pop down and watch :biggrin:
