Risk assessments and method statements...for the last time, hopefully!

As you know there is a monumental difference between what the likes of UU require in comparison to say whats expected from a local church. My entire H&S infrastructure is twice as fat as my laptop, like you say why share that and give away the edge. But I think what this thread is about is sharing good solid generic documentation thats does the majority.

Good post Dave and a different perspective. I guess I'm so used to dealing with the bigger firms i've forgotten about the scenario you mention.

Good generic material is available from the AA.

it has nothing to do with working for a wee old granny trimming an apple tree or clearing 1000km of powerline clearance, you are eithe rparanoid or not. and any information that you find so secretive can be done for you by a professional for a few hundred quid, thats what i did, called up a company, gave them 300 quid and they did the lot, i got 2 monster folders all laminated and done to the letter, and another 2 folders for my risk assesment, the guy spent a few hrs with me showing me how to fill in the forms and i could call him anytime for no charge, and if i hit a tricky company i would call him and for 30quid he would go and sort it out for me. If i was going to try and do it myself it would of taken me months and probably done it wrong. Then i passed all of it to a mate how copied the lot and gave me it back, free of charge, he just did a couple of stumps for me and we called it quits, but thats the way i work, i will help anyone i can, if they shaft me then who cares, move on. Guys who traul the web to use it as a tool to shaft others are idiots, so they might manage to edge into a job that you quote, but they will soon get sussed out and dropped. I called andy one day for a bit of advice on a dying elm, he never charged me for his time, we chatted for about 10minutes and that saved me a whole lot of work. next time i see him i will get him a pint and a burger:thumbup:i call dean and huck every week for advice, thats what good guys do for each other:thumbup1:

What has paranoia got to do with it ? I'm simply putting forward an alternative opinion ?

I'll help anyone who calls me up for advice, there's a difference between that and posting hard earned experience online.

There are plenty of extremely large and well thought of companies browsing this forum and you don't see them stepping in to threads like this. There is a reason for that no doubt !

My point is if you want a basic set of forms why not just start a sticky thread with links to the AA forms ? It's taking it beyond the basic I personally would have an issue with.

Thing is though loads of people do it with there experience of take downs using specialist gear with a few little tips and tricks thrown in so its not really any different than posting up a few forms.

Well IMO anyway.:001_smile:
