Risk assessments and method statements...for the last time, hopefully!

I'd like to start compiling information for some risk assessment and method statement forms. I have arranged to have some professionally made, and these will be available in pdf as a free download on arbtalk.

 

I'd like these to be as thorough as possible, so if people could start putting their suggestions forward please do. im looking for the obvious info, but also anything else that can distinguish the forms from others.

it also obviously needs to be a form that can be customized to everyones needs.

the aa methodstatement is pretty comprehensive and is easily addapted to suit, i have a 28pg generic risk assesment which covers absolutely everything and also a 2pg site specific risk assesment which i can send

..and how many trees do we have to fell to be able to print that one out....do you know how much print cartidges cost nowadays John ??

follow the AA pro forma? keep it simple and concise? cant beat 'ticky' boxes

I have already posted a copy of my one somewhere I think.

 

Is this going to be a generic method statement or a site specific? same with the RA generic or site specific.

 

If they are site specific ones what I would want would be something that can be put together quickly, dont want to spend more than 5 mins on a job filling in RA or more than 10 mins doing a MS (tbh 30 seconds and 2 mins would be more like it )

Had something similar (which I paid for), but lost the lot when my old PC went t**s up.

 

The combination of the chunky, bound generic RA and the 2 sheet site specific used to really impress the safety guys for construction companies.

I think there has to be mention of manual handling somewhere in the RA.

 

In the method statement it would be good to have some mention of how the job was priced i.e. how long each element is expected to take, perhaps not so in depth as a gant chart, but enough to improve communication and set / adjust expectations on both sides of equation.

 

Also might sound ott for RA but some basic info on staff; e.g. name, mobile no., any medical conditions / medication and next of kin contact details / ICE no.

Hopefully you never need any of this (especially the latter), but through repetition it might improve awareness / understanding of each other and improve teamworking.

ive never had to use it thankfully, cant remember where it came from but i used it on one of my fdsc arb and tree care assignments and it went down quite well, with regards my 2 page risk assesment, i allways keep a blank one in the truck just incase:001_tongue:
