Does being a good climber mean he's a good tree worker??

I think you could be a good climber and rubbish at treework sure...

 

But most good climbing tree workers are great all rounders anyway and their desire to be involved with every aspect of the job is what makes them good climbing tree workers, part of this happens through progression in differing aspects of the job, ie, dragging, straight felling, pruning, dismantles ...

 

I would say a bad tree worker lacks motivation, does not learn or embrace experience, and does not posess technical skills which enable them to do the job properly and efficiently or safely...

 

Climbing and treework are two totally different things though

I know loads of 'sol called good climbers' a few are chmpions, but they wont, chip, drag brash, drive the van, they think they are the elite, and all they should do is climb.

there was a video of a tree firm in america who dismantled a tree with rigging from a bucket truck and everything went smoothly, no climbing done whatsoever.

there's a firm that has platforms on the back of morooka off-road loaders which have very low ground pressure if the right tracks are fitted or use a machine like those that are being used up at spadeadam on the bog restoration project. also you didn't say anything about trees in wetlands john so my answer was pertinent to the facts given.
