If it's refusing to start, first question is have you pushed the decomp button? If you have, you'll need to remove the cover to get at the button to pull it back up. It's bloody hard to start if you push it! In fact, to get it to pop up, you need to pull the engine over above 600rpm! Repeated use of the button also cokes up the valve, meaning it doesn't seal and will cause the engine to seize.

Best bet on these saws is to remove the blue girlie button and screw in a banking plug .

It's not the blue, side mounted one, you can pull those out! It's the top mounted ones like on the 560, that once pressed, drops down below where you can grab, even with pliers!

Ah yes I;m with you . I was thinking pre Xtorque . Is there room to fit a blanking plug like you could on the old side mounted ones ?

Personally I never start a saw with the brake on, it is a habit and probably not one they teach you but I don't like adding wear to the parts and I like the saw to rev up to clear any un-burnt fuel from using the choke.

 

I tend not to use a decomp button, the exceptions are 3120 some MS660, MS880 and anything old and big with no ignition timing retardation or big saws with tweaked ignition timing!

 

They fit the decomp for two reasons - for little Arbs with girly hands and also to protect the starter mechanism from undue wear. Using it can lower the compression to a point the engine may not start well, the 365 tends to have a lot of squish gap and lower compression so using the decomp can stop it firing.

 

The fast idle is generally needed, starting a cold saw on a closed throttle can be difficult and leads to flooding if the engine won't catch. Sure a nice hot engine will fire on idle but why not use the facillity:confused1: so I personally don't agree with the earlier statement about this!
