That's fair enough Graham. Must be a newer adjustment in legalisation. It probably won't be long before it's undone by a counter adjustment.

I read in a farming magazine a comparison test between an MF telehandler and a MF tractor with a loader fitted. A big plus of the loader was you don't need training and testing to drive one.

It adds up.

I'd have said that for many on here in their applications they would require some form of Training Testing for a Tractor and Loader setup?

 

It all really comes back down to the simple fact if it all goes wrong you're in the dock trying to prove that someone was competent to operate that bit of kit?

Just an In House ticket is all that is required from a qualified and reputable trainer, as it them who will then have to prove their training competence?

 

No need for any LANTRA, CPCS or whatever unless your insurance or possibly clients were to stipulate this?

 

Yes I know it's just all covering your arse in most instances, but just because it's a Tractor or Agricultural doesn't mean it exempt from the obligation to keep people safe.

Michael Braithwaite (1946 - 2010) retired from the Humberside Police in August 1996 as a Traffic Sergeant, but having spent 25 years previously studying and lecturing on all aspects of Traffic Legislation, he was retained by the Police Force as their Traffic Law Adviser and Trainer
