Hiab positioning any advice??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

Getting a Maxilift 350 crane going on the truck next week, I am looking for any advice on the position to put it. I would like to put it between the tipper deck and the cab but then i wont get much reach with it. I am thinking of putting it at the back of the tipper bed. I understand I would need to have some sort of protection around it for when i want to tip chip/Logs. Has anyone done this before? I wonder if it would be to much hassle tipping.

Any advice would be great!!

Most here would have a different take on this but mine would be to fit the hiab on the back and make the tipper a three way tip. Down side to this is that some of what you tip tends to end up under the truck. The upside is the clear 180 degrees of crane usage and the ability to load a trailer as well. Decisions decisions :)

The back every time, just as Bob says!

I have a rear mount on the Mog .

Some chip will fall under but you tip off and reverse out in a half moon and it's all good.

I'll get some pics

Thanks guys. Thats what i liked about it being on the back its just the tipping of logs and chip which i worry about smashing it. And taking up to much room as there not a massive deck anyway!!
