Dismantled this large Sycy yesterday, then felled the stick, to find that right in the hinge, was a bit of iron. Lucky to miss it with the 88! Was also completely hollow and I could stand in the hole up to my neck.

Hell mate- that was well lucky. I hit a gate crook with my 088 wearing a 3foot bar the day before yesterday,:mad1: which was about 8foot up an ash tree that i waas ringing after i had felled it. Maybe that was why you didnt hit yours.:sneaky2: Could have been worse- i took the four foot bar off just befor i started the job!!:001_smile:

Good job you left a nice hinge.

If any of you need any help finding metal in butts give me a shout. I'm getting pretty good at it just after I've put a new chain on the 66.
