Any advice on small forestry trailers?

Recommended Posts

We're interested in something like a Vahva Jussi 1500kg and Riki COT 1.5

I'm looking for any feedback at all really. We would probably be pulling with a hydrostatic compact tractor but we do have a quad as an option too. Obviously the power supply would depend on the type of vehicle pulling it. The sales rep for Riki told me that they do a battery option?

Any advice appreciated

I've got the vahva jussi trailer/crane and its great. The performance of the crane us unbelievable for the size of it!

Mine is the basic 320 crane and standard trailer but i'm looking into getting the winch and 4wd system soon to make it a lot more versatile. With the 4wd it will make it unstoppable in the woods along with with my alpine tractor.

I haven't tried it with a quad but I wouldn't fancy it especially if the site has any inclines/decents.

Vahva jussi is a proven design and are used extensively in Scandinavia. Theres a setup on the vahva jussi Facebook page that has hauled over 17,000 m³ of timber in the last 3 years with no issues!

hi, just been through all this small timber trailer with 3.6mtr crane and quad,if your ground you intend to work is relativly flat and dry ok but if its got inclines and slightly damp forget it,i rolled my trailer 4 times in one afternoon (back to the drawing board) and hydrostatic compact tractors are not that good in forestry work either,i have just spent a small fortune on what i think is a fairly good set up 1.5 tonne trailer now widened to increase stabilaty and uprated to 2 tonne and pulled by a kubota 40hp 4wd tractor all works well at the moment but lets see what happens when we get some rain and it gets sticky as its pulling up a 30-35 degree hillside .
