I only cut wood for myself as many of us around here do. It's getting more difficult to get hold of so I put a post on here yesterday asking if there was any available north of Manchester. I bought some cut logs in last year to top up and have just done the same this year but I actually like splitting them myself; it's not just cheaper but keeps me fit.

I'll burn about 8 cubic metres in a winter but last winter went on for a very long time and I used half as much again.

If anyone knows where I can get uncut wood, please let me know. I'll take anything, any shape or size except brash of course. It all burns.

Last winter long? Did you spend it in Siberia :)

I cut enough to keep me and my two Sons houses going. It is suprising how much we used last year. I cut it up with a chain saw and last year split it with an axe. This year I have bought a petrol logsplitter and that has made things easier. I am almost 70 so need to find ways of making the work easier but love doing it.
