Need a rope identifying

 

I bought a length of this at a farm sale today

 

Its 20mm dia. it has a 16 strand jacket and an 8 pair strand core, its got a small green trace.

 

Any ideas?

Think it's Marlow

Spliced some strops up a while ago and rope so they could yark trees over with it

Certainly looked like that and was that diameter

Bob you are the man, and I should know better. Ed bought a full reel of this for a hideous Beech removal in Holmfirth.

 

Who would have thought Hade Edge farm sale would be the place to find a cheap rigging rope!

Certainly not ideal it all down to strength and elasticity

I am sure it would suffice but don't push your luck and a 16mm rigging rope would take more weight and be a lot nicer to use.

For pulling trees over it would likely be spot on

Rope construction is very complex and underestimated
