A Bantam died during the storm, but the Rheas in the pen immeadiately below were shaken but not stirred.

 

Found pieces of debris including this one from picture 6, up to 30m away.

 

Most of these Oaks are host to Fistulina, which is shown in the very dark brown heart wood.

Know what you mean. A relative's 90-year old blue cedar took a big strike some years ago. The top quarter of the tree just exploded; there were brick-sized lumps of wood 30 yards or more away in all directions. The trunk had daylight through it halfway down, then the split disappeared, only to be visible again running out along the surface roots.

That's why they tell you not to stand under a tree in a thunderstorm; get in the open, put your head between your legs and...

The trees here get hit every storm i have not found one from last night yet. The storm last year hit 3 oaks and a yew 2 of the oaks are now dead and i is fighting back but parts are dead. I have a lot of strikes i will try and get some pics for you.

Possibly, but the brown rot appears to be at a very early stage at this particular point of the Tree.
