Saw dilema

The 038 is an odd choice, pretty old school saw by now but good in it's day.

 

The Husky 372/365 or Stihl MS460 would seem obvious choices.

Thanks for all your answers. The 038 has come up at a good price so thought it might be worth buying. I'll hang on to the ms200t and get a 376 I think.

Just a thought, but the 365 as I understand, is similar to a 372 which - you may have confirm with the engineers; Spud, Wyk etc on here - that it can be fairly easily ported to achieve similar performance.

 

Considering the price of the 365 against the others, it may be an option if you're not going to be using too extensively with a 24" bar?

Another spanner to add to the dilema, I had 372, 576 over the years and neither compete with a US import 372 xtorq I been using. My advise order one off ebay work out around 650 with postage and tax.

I run an ms 460 on an 18 or 25 and it cuts no problem with either bar but the 25 can feel a bit pedestrian. Hence it's been sent to spud for a good talking to about manning up! I couldn't fault it and have only ported it because I can and to stave of buying something bigger a whole longer.

 

I should add I have not used other saws in this category so cannot compare, but love the 460 it starts it cuts it stops when asked like ronseal.
