Killing standing Poplar

Hi all, some advice needed. I have two customers wanting poplars removed due to the constant suckering from the root system through there lawns and driveways. I have explained that removal will probably make the issue worse. What is the best course of action to chemically kill the tree prior to removal to lessen the subsequent growth from the root system. Any thoughts and methods would be appreciated.:001_rolleyes:

I would kill them in situ before felling. If you don't want a forest of root suckers, although it's seems to depend on what type of pop.

Easier said than done mind!

Last time we did on mature pops took four visits putting in Ecco plugs and still didn't have much effect.

Ended up drilling sloping holes and pouring in neat round up.

Needless to say made a big loss on the poisoning part of the job.

Amazing how difficult it can be to kill a healthy tree. Have wondered about using a tree injection system like arbor jet to introduce roundup next time but haven't had a job recently that requires it.

You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality

ive applied glyphosate to freshly cut black and white pops - a good dose was given and they suckered everywhere some coming up through tarmac.

I used to put a disclaimer with the quote to account for the possibility of such a scenario
