Lets pretend that you're correct and that it (whatever it is) is the best 'pro' saw money can buy it would be wasted on me as I'm not the best professional tree worker money can buy.

sorry folks i tell it like it is or how i find it. Would i buy anudder 360TES tomorrow? YES i would as it is a gr8 saw. Afore all you pros start harping on about amazing MS200T's and how they are the benchmark saw of all time....do you remember when they too had problems with substandard carbs?

 

Alot of people jump on the bandwagon and rave on about the great saws of our recent past and the reality is some of those people have never even used one and simply listen to hearsay and regurgitate 'the hype'.

 

The way things are going Echo and Dolmar will be the 'en vogue' brand to own within the next 3 years.

 

I am an Echo fan, but if there are problems encountered with any of their products i will be the first to admit it.

I've had same with bit of casing under top handle coming adrift, will have a go with duct tape.

Was well pleased to save the £200. For me it's always dealing with the waste that takes too long, not cutting wood. If I was sawing 10" oak all week long maybe my 200T would come out of the museum.

You're correct in what you say, as for me I make my own mind up about what equipment I choose to use, sometimes after getting advice from others on here, sometimes in spite of advice. I don't expect or want everyone else to agree that my choice is the best but do expect that my choice is respected. I try to avoid criticising the choice made by others or commenting on the shortcomings of equipment I haven't used apart from if I'm giving the reason why I choose A rather than B.

 

It seems to me a lot of folks need to validate their choice by knocking the choices of others, personally I don't get it, what conceivable difference could it make to anyone else what I choose?

True. The reasons yew have stated above are my guidelines fer buying kit be it saws, chippers, ropes etc.

 

I like many udders run a 'dolly mixture setup' with saws/hedge trimmers/blowers from Stihl, Husky & Echo. A Dolmar will no doubt be joining the fleet at some point.

What an odd post. "I do expect my choice is respected" who's "disrepecting" your choice? I just pointed out that a 200 quid saving on a saw that will last three years, maybe around 600 days work. So you're saving 33p a day.

A packet of crisps.

Now if the Echo is as good as the Stihl equivalent fair enough, but if they were the same price what would you buy?

ps, Isn't validating your choice by knocking others (saying the Stihl isn't worth the extra money) exactly what you did?

I'm not a full time climber, most of the time I do forestry.

 

Now if the Echo is as good as the Stihl equivalent fair enough, but if they were the same price what would you buy?

 

I'd still probably buy the Echo, for a variety of reasons that are valid for me, sentimental reasons for one, I still have my late fathers CS-701SVL, 1975 and still running, two, no aututune/mtronic whatever and three, I like to use something less mainstream.

I didn't say it wasn't worth the extra money, what I said was

 

In short there's nothing I can see that makes it justifiable for me to spend an extra £200 on the Husqvarna or Stihl toppers. Others will obviously have different opinions which is fine, anyone wants to give me a Husky or Stihl I'll gladly use it

Fair enough, if it's just for bits and bobs and you do forestry mostly, it's a good choice.
