has it went for an MOT yet liam? i hear some horror stories when they get there test.

 

No not yet, It came with a long test, I think its up in November, Should be a nice present just before Xmas to get hammerd with a load of welding and a massive MOT bill

This is my beast!! a proper truck, none of this jap crap!! im a conservation ranger at center parcs and do logging as well. Shes a 1955 series 1 land rover running an intercooled discovery 200tdi engine, a few series 2 parts, eiberspasher diesel heater for the winter and a pto winch.....most useful!!! you know it makes sense sell your new "suv" family car pickup and go for something that will last another 54 years!!! ha ha ha!!!

Thats just the welding inside the cab!

 

I have renewed the discs, pads and calipers, several brake pipes, rear shoes, sorted hand brake then the usual lighting issues, wiper blades etc, etc.

 

One key tip Liam, Make sure the cab is water tight! The main problem with the cab floor was due to the screen leaking and the carpet holding about 10 gallons of water on the steel permanently, so check the screen rubber isnt perishing on the corners!

 

She is in for re-test tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed:thumbup1:

The water tight thing tho :blushing: When i get in mine the carpet is damp mate, Its leaking in from somewhere, Probably the windscreen, I noticed it last week, What do you think is the best bet?? Just rip all the carpet out, Fix the leak and any damage and start again??

Man thats bad for a 2001, but as you say anything will rust with a carpet of water over it, my mate has a 05 but he has had some bother with the handbrake/rear shoes he says there is more springs in there than an old bed!!

As you can see by mine, theres not much carpet left in!

 

My theory now is, if it leaks in, it can run straight out again!

 

Bit more cab noise now on the road, but at least i can see whats happening with the floor:thumbup1:
