Inapropriate Tree Management ?

Line of Lombardies along the back garden fences of 4/5 seperate private properties.

Looks like the contractor has got all but one client to agree to the reductions.

Aesthetically wrong, and now poses a significantly higher risk to untouched trees due to increased hazzard of wind throw IMO !

The question is who`s responsibility is it for the now over exposed trees.

Property owner, Local Authority or Contractor?

Dont know who did this, dont really care.

More interested in what you all think.

We all got to make a living, but......

I could be wrong, but it looks to me that they have been topped in the past,in which case retopping/pollarding is the only way to go,IMO

do not see why the local authority would be to blame for private trees

do not see why the contractor is to blame

must be the tree owner but i do think the contractor should of covered his arse and explained the consequences to the property owner and the ones he has topped it may have been 4 different contractors then theres problems but as you say probably one

Property owners responsibility imo. They are responsible as duty of care for their trees. They had the opportunity to manage them at the time the contractors were there. But some people cant be convinced. oh well, probably cost them more to have them done when they need doing.

Agree with general consesus here, but i`m imagining someone at the LA consented to these works.

What makes you think that?

If they were TPO'd that cutting is not BS3998.

If its a conservation area they could only stop it happening by putting on a TPO,They cannot vet applications to do work.

Are all consents to work always stipulated to approved standards, agreed they should be but are they really ?

Has to be said i don`t know for sure the situation on these particular trees.

I would just be very interested to hear how far the contractor went to persuade the owner of the non reduced trees, to have them reduced with safety in mind, rather than just the extra finance it would have generated (me being cynical here )
