I am another climber down with a damaged shoulder, smashed up collarbone playing with pitbikes in the woods after work :/ I got put back together nearly two weeks ago, held together with screws and staples now with another 4.5 weeks before I can come out of this sling!!

A little 150 sound like a good idea!

Ouch, hope your recovery goes well. :001_smile:

If they're anything like my local hospital with date making, you'll get a call a fortnight before :001_rolleyes:

Yeah, the surgeon seemed keen for me to see a particular physio, not just the one at the local gp. Movement is coming back now, but I do feel a bit of a wally with a withered arm, all the muscle disappeared fairly quickly whilst in the sling.

Aye I'm half expecting a call one morning for surgery in the afternoon... :001_rolleyes:

Good that you've gotten a decent physio at least, really helps. And yeah, I was advised by one doctor not to do a thing until surgery, hate to think how scrawny I'd be when I was ready to start doing stuff again though. Just doing as much as I can cope with for the time being.

Sorry to hear about you too Ian. Kinda ironic doing a job most consider ridiculously dangerous and then having some daft accident which puts you out for months though...

I'm another one with a damaged shoulder, it's shocking how quick you lose muscle tone, I broke the clavicle getting bombed by a chog, never did anything about it for a few months, in hindsight it pays to get in for help as quick as you can, mine set wrong & is impinging on the joint, keyhole & grind me up buttercup!

I'm going private, so bang goes my savings, but I will earn the money again, & waiting about at my age (54), is not an option I will consider viable.

The 150 is a cracking saw, just drill the exhaust & it is a strong performer too.

Alright well there's nothing ironic about that one Geoff, that just sounds horrible... Yeah inaction is definitely not a help, as I'm realising. To be honest if the bank would give me the loan I would go private, I'm only 24 but mines sat wrong for years and has started wearing away at the bone. I don't want to finish my climbing career already...

All the best with your op and recovery too mate, if I get my hands on one I'll be sure to make some holes in it. You just drill straight into the exhaust outlet?

There is a thread on here somewhere, but just get an 8 to 10 mm hole as per picture, remove the exhaust first, takes 2 minutes if that, 7 get any swarf out after drilling, then you might need to tweek the L or H screw a fraction, I have done 4 or 5 & not needed adjustment.

Good luck with shoulder op and recovery.I had ligaments in mine re-attached front and back 2 years since now with keyhole screws. Not as strong as i once was but i was pressing 140kg before so can still manage to climb.

Was there any difference between how long you were told you'd need off and how much you actually had (or needed) off?

I've had physio this morning and I'm now ok to start bulking up, welded myself a dumbell with a couple of solid wheels and some water pipe. Should do the trick.

Not what this thread was about but . . . its good to hear about other who have had the same injury, nearly two weeks after surgery and I think its going ok but I cant help but worry, will I get full movement back!

Another 4.5 weeks until I am out of the sling before I can start physio, looking forward to that!

Good luck with the recovery.

If you're typing coherently after two weeks, you're doing well. I was to fried on painkillers to even think at that stage:lol:

Best of luck with your recovery
