what is the oldest chainsaw you own?

I have a Dynamac DY41 from Machine Mart from the days when you didn't see Stihl or Husqvarna saws for DIY prices. I bought it to cut down a Cherry tree in the back garden as it was cheaper than the quotes I got for the job (it was a decent size tree with 14" trunk)

you can call them robbing thieving gypo itinerants that go round leaching n stealing of anyone i use the word anyone because young old vulnerable of if your backs turned and your guard is down your doomed

I have a Homelite Super XL 12 with a 16" bar that I bought second hand from an ad in the Carmarthen Journal in 1978. Bloke was a tree surgeon. Has been used say one month a year for hedging & firewood ever since. Apart from the noise(which is RIDICULOUS) I prefer it to the Husky 136 & my mate's 20 year old Stihls.

AV had been round 10+ years by that point, there are old Stihl contras out there with AV dated to the early 60's. What you've got to remember is, the materials were poor, half of the plastics hadn't been invented, secondly, most of today's safety features were optional extras, reserved for the kind of people whom today have heated handles, trio-brakes and other bits of kit to make them super safe

My oldest is an 041AV 16" bar pre chain brake jobby, very reliable saw, just serviced it and put new seals on the pump (which leaked bar oil out of the hole at the front) running real sweet now, I bought a Stihl MS181 to tide me over while I sorted the 041 out..

Still got a rop handled 020av power unit in the lock up,it was boggin down on full revs,probably needed a service....they were a nightmare to service
