Vw 4x4 tipper ?

I've been looking at all the 4x4 tipper options. Unfortunately (according to our local dealer and brochure) the 4 wheel drive van chassis (VW call it 4MOTION) is only available for the VW Transporter which only goes up to 3 ton GVW. The bigger Crafter doesn't have 4MOTION option.

So, unless they've changed the models, if it has 4WD that truck will only be a 3 tonner.

3.5 tonner 4WD only seem to be: Transit AWD, Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 and Iveco (but 3.5 and 5.5 ton 4WD no longer on their UK website - have they been withdrawn??).

If anyone knows something I don't or if I've made a mistake please let me know as trying to decide re: new truck for us.

Just go and buy a Mog Dean and get it over with!:laugh1:

Toms right though, your driveway is a clutch killer for non 4 wheel drives, even the road that your drive goes onto would kill that from a standing start just with chip.

I bet it's a good van though, just not for you mate:001_smile:

Our German lot have a similar model panel van, is that a T4 or T5? I don't recall now but at 180ps, it can goe some and is rated to tow 2800kgs!

It has a lot of kudos in V Dub circles!

The original VW Transporter Syncro was brilliant. My father ran 4 on his company in the 80's, they'd go anywhere. Diff locks in both axles, low first gear 16" mud tyres & a ton payload. The new version is a very soft version..

This is one that Coors brewery have just bought, it was a special order. I don't know the details of it, I'll find out next time, but I looked under it and it looked to have diff lock on the rear.

I can't have anything without low box as Stevie pointed out, he and Tom have both been to my house and seen my drive and the hill I live on.

Just thought it may be an alternative for you transit bods
