Makita DCS230T

As the title suggests we are talking about this saw. Saw it advertised in the mag they handed out at the arb show. It does claim to be the worlds lightest chainsaw, which after some research appears to be true...just. Little bit down on power compared to stihl 150 however although when I last used a 150 i was impressed by its ability certainly for doing small stuff, it did keep bogging down and stopping which was slightly off putting.

 

So has anybody used one of these Makitas and if so what did ya think.

 

And please lets keep the "wouldnt use that cos its blue" crap for another forum.

if its new they stop cutting out when they are run in if its second hand check the boot between the carb and block they are bad for getting torn i think they are great saws for connie bashing are light pruning you won't go wrong with it and if you don't like it pm me an i will take it off your hands they aint an ms200 but they don't sell it as .we have 2 of them . ps the bigger one is crap dcs3410 i think

ok thats good to know. Havent bought a 150 of my own yet but like you say they are ideal for small stuff.

I agree, not a stihl but a great, light little saw. They do have a horrible little plastic screw to hold the carb/filter cover on which snapped off within a week but I have it held on with a trusty cable tie which I cut to clean! gutless in anything over about 6 inches.

its a shame the rear handled and top handled PS-3410 arent as good as the smaller PS-222TH I WAS thinking about getting one or the other in and see what everybody thinks of them they are good value for money but are they up too the grade for everyday profittable use :thumbup:

we use them almost everyday we are out and apart from the bits that have been knocked off them by us dropping them. almost all the repairs that we have done to them has been damage remember and keep air filters for them in stock we usually keep 6 in stock

it was mentioned in a earlier post by breezeblock i was hoping somebody could give some more info on this saw the PS-3410 :thumbup:

we've got 1 and its never really felt that good a saw the handles in the wrong place the carb never seems to be that well adjusted almost likes its gassing up when you start it the handle knocks the kill switch the air filter is poorly sealed not that big we thought the exhaust holes on the silencer were too small so they got opened up that helped a lot thats all i can think off just now :thumb down:the upside is its got a decent lug on the back for your strop

definitely get the 150 instead, I tried both and the Makita felt flimsy and was underpowered in comparison, it will also be worth next to nothing if you want to sell it second hand.
