Thank you for your kind welcome. My husband and I are small woodland owners and have be thinning and selling logs for several years. But as he approaches 70, he is finding that arthritis in the hands is making chainsaw work painful especially in cold wet weather. Not sure how much longer he can carry on, not viable to employ anyone else. What would your members suggest as regards our woodland? Would they suggest just leaving it to get overgrown again, renting or leasing to someone else or selling. I would appreciate any help and advice from anyone who has faced this dilemma and then to know what they did.

Many thanks.

If he is still working at 70, I reckon your husband has a good 10yrs of work left in him yet.

Get him a nice light chainsaw with heated handles for his 70th birthday, and tell him to get out from under your feet.
