Todays foraging finds

Not your normal woodland forage finds I will admit. About 4 hours worth of foraging & still only covered a very small area.

All from this treasure trove of woodland goodies dug out of the roads side ditch.

Still have over a weeks worth to go. The original idea was to make piles of the stuff along the road side & get a lorry & grab to get rid if it all. That was till I went to see the local people. Seems that the local tip (10 miles) is now council only & the nearest is a 5 hour round trip by lorry. They want £98 / ton (plus VAT) to collect & take to the tip. Plus the tip charge is £80 ton even if I take it myself. So I have to sepperate all the heavy soil & rocks from the rubbish.

This is just typical red tape from the council. I despise people that litter and years ago it was a deciding factor of leaving a job as the inbreds that worked there always littered and there attitude was " it gives someone a job!".

I know what you have isn't green waste but a debate needs to be had with the EA and local councils about arb waste being an asset to them and not another load of landfill. Phew, got that off chest!

To add insult to injury. Today whilst moving the piles to do more picking I needed to move a small tree (3 to 4 inch round) that had self set in a ditch. Was just about to set it down when some thing snagged & it spun round & took the front screen out on the digger showering me in glass. Got a few cuts & scrapes but could have been much worse. The screen was a hardened type but still produced large shards severel of which went into my wellies. Was a right job getting them out as I could not pull my foot out without cutting it to bits. Then had to spend an age sweeping the cab out & picking glass from the ground. Still needs a hoover out but its to far from a power source at the min. Will have to get down the glass shop (its a flat square glass) & see what the damage will be to the wallet. Its a bonded in type too so will need the glue stuff too.
