Picked these up at a sale today, are they any good for horse logging and what are they worth? cheers

Morning all they go behind the horse fixed each end to chains from the horse then the middle link go s to the log or some thing to be dragged along ground like harrows I try fine pic for you

It allows for a central load attachment while keeping the traces (the lines the horse pulls with) parallel to the horses flanks (sides).

 

Without it the traces would chaff something chronic

Are they definitely swingletrees? They could also be Yokes to be attached between a pair of horses.

 

It's the lack of an attachment point for the traces that makes me wonder. The recessed ends look like they could be used to attach to a martingale or collar strap. Might be a bit short for that though.

 

Either way you'd be looking at £20 ish each I would have thought. You can pick up new ones for £40.

Having looked again, the attachment point for the hook/chain looks too weak for a swingletree. My vote is definitely for Yoke!

I did wonder that myself as seem a bit short for swingletrees going on what I've seen before, paid £8 for them so should be a small profit if I don't find a use for them
