well works is picking up and ive just had some cheques from some profitable jobs come in so i was thinking got to speculate to accumulate. who knows, could be a right pig

dont think that way john, if you are not fast you are last mate. get bidding. or keep your money and buy brand new. take a little finance, keep your cash flow good, tax down and have a reliable machine. doesnt matter how frsh it looks, it is old so probs will occur and if you are not mechanically minded it will cost you in the long run.

at 1500 hundred quid it would be great but make sure you budget higher at least another grand as old machine s like that will certainly cost more. Remember its not like you have any proper protection like you would if you went to a dealer. I know you pay more at dealers but you will save in the long run. Interest rates are so low and with your work picking up I would be inclined to spend a bit more for less hastle its what i did and i am happy so far

id rather not get finance, rather the money coming in to be my own, think it might be worth a punt. this way if work slows up i can just sit on it and do more subbying without worrying that i need to make x amount per week to pay for stuff. im far to laid back for all that stress buisness

There a good reliable machine John, a guy not far from me has a 625 and wont get rid of it, swears by it infact, just budget for a full service and mybe the odd bearing and you will be fine. At the end of the day if you win it and its knackered when you go pick it up or it aint as described just walk away....oh yes as Nige said, no bottom bar so that needs sortin, the later ones 625 had em as standard i think. I would look at 400quid to sort the bottom bar from what i have heard from dealers on other machines.

does anyone think its worth bidding on this item

I would say so, 18 months ago a 6 inch chipper in good working order was worth at least £2,500 so there is scope to sell it on when things improve.

You will need to sort a safety bar out if you have someone else using it, not sure on the price but Vermeer UK isnt the cheapest on parts tbh.

Have a look at this one, the red bar along the bottom is what you need plus a couple of switches and some hydraulic plumbing with a dump valve.

Having a guess it might be £400-500 worth from vermeer or you could get a blacksmith to do a bit of pipe bending. Failing that it might be worth speaking to mason woodchippers since I have seen some chippers sold by him that have had aftermarket bars on, he might be able to make you one up.
