Best desk I've seen was thorough the FSB £15 a month for mobile terminal 30p for a debit card 1.5 or 2% on credit card. Bit seems hard to justify when it's easy to get paid by cheque, cash or BACS

The point is it cuts cheques out and running to the bank. Bacs is good but some people take a while to pay.

Anyone use Retail Merchant Services? That called today about getting me to have a machine.

I am about to move to them, reviews from five other traders using them locally are a bit mixed, the main bad issue seems to be not answering the phone when the system goes down. Will be saving about 30% compared with Streamline who is my current provider.

I saw another reply about post dated cheques, why dont you take a 50% deposit when booking the job, that on a card is covered by the card company so if you dont turn up then they refund to your customer. Take that either by BACS or card over the phone. Helps cash flow, reduces your bad debt exposure and if no deposit paid then no job done.

I don't know what they have offered you but streamline brought all of mine down when I said I was moving due to better rates, although streamlines premium charges are a joke, they do offer pretty good customer service I have found.
