Reading a news article about a guy who got scammed when buying stuff on line and how he didn't bother to report the fraud to the Police. The news reporter suggested that maybe this is why reported crime is falling. Thought?

last two times we had gear taken didnt bother because we knew who it was, the police knew and couldnt do anything. a silver vectra spotting car and a white escort van doing the lifting

probably due to a lack of faith in the police! I had near a grand conned out of me once guy posing as a landlord took deposit etc and disappeared :bash: police response 'its a civil matter sir nothing we can do'!!:sneaky2: but they wanted a thorough description of the contents of the flat cos apparently he left with the tv and sofa!!! priorities eh!

If you don't report it the crime figures look a lot better than they are and policing could be reduced as a result.

My faith in the police has waned greatly but I won't let them off by not reporting crime.

No. Total waste of space round our area. Only reason i would would be for a crime number for insurance. What's gets me is there "greater than you attitude " and they claim that they to busy doing paperwork to investigate crime. But if they not investigating where's the paperwork coming from

I feel we are duty bound to report serious crime, & being stripped of your work tools falls into this. If we dont report it, the police cant get a picture of what is going on, or how to try & stem it. There are many other reasons, but if we are to fight crime one of the tools to use is making the law aware.

We had a car broken into 3 years ago. The little scrote keyed his initials onto the driver side doors and I now know who it was. The police never even came out to us despite repeated calls and letters
