advice please

Hi all, I have been asked to do a job on an A road.

A car went through the hedge and took out a metal fence too.

I've been asked to clear all the vegetation to allow the fencers to sort it out.

I don't usually go anywhere near roads, but this is for a very good regular customer, so can't really and don't want to turn it down.

I need traffic management without doubt as its a 60mph and on a long straight stretch, so they are belting along.

So basically guys, what do I need to do?

I'll second that.

 

Your bill should be paid out of the insurance so the cost of getting a TM company in shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks guys, I've already been in touch with a TM company.

They have given me a quote which scared the life out of me, glad I'm not paying.

Do they turn up and do it all for you and wait around till you've finished or do they set up and clear off and collect the stuff later?

I'm on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border near Andover.

Maybe thats something you should be discussing with them?

Setting up TM for a 60mph road should start at about £100-£200 for the day including sign rental for a straight stretch of road using give and take/priority. Lights will add another £150-£250. If they are going to stay onsite to monitor it'll be about £30-40/hour. All plus vat of course.

Presumably you have to inform Highways/ Council Paul, and can they charge you?

 

I'm lucky down here, we still use tractors with beacons and big groundies with hi viz.
