I've got two 8' (ish) by 22" diameter pieces of straight dry oak stem sat on the drive needing to be planked for use as benches/tables and stuff in a local nature reserve managed by my partner. Can anyone help or point me in the direction of someone who won't charges unrealistic prices.

cheers

Use a chainsaw and then power plane it. That would be the cheapest way Nick.

:scared1::scared1:

Not. Probably the best way to ruin your wood!

Borrow an alaskan, or give me £400 and ill come all the way from cornwall with my bandsaw mill and still make a day rate!! (Not really offering BTW, but £300 is day rate for me and mill!):001_smile:

There's a bloke called Dylan Walker In Beccles, not sure of price, but I’ll PM his No. if your interested,

If not .I think the saw mill Steve’s talking about is in Coney Western, funnily enough next to the carvers that feature in the tree sculptor thread

Beccles is really close to me. Can you PM me the details LSD (nice climb of that red oak by the way - will have to reveal the secret location as i'm in suffolk at the mo.!?)
