Has similar one whe I was assessing

They were changing bulbs in street lamps

Drove from lamp to lamp with guy on cherry picker

Stopped bit fast and flicked him off top

Accident investigation tried to replicate it

And almost fliked another guy off top

Broke his ribs I think

They were replicating it with a 'hot body' in the box?? That beggars belief! It's beyond Monty Python stupidity!

Really bad indeed. This incident happened about a year ago. The machine was at fault I believe, and a notice sent out to all of the machine owners- I can't remember the exact details. I'm sure it was mentioned in a thread on here, maybe someone else knows where to find it...

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app

Details of the findings on the link...

HSE Safety Alert - Genie Z135/70 Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP)

A very sorry tale.

Is this documented anywhere??

If true, its one of the maddest investigations ever.

so was the recalibration notice sent out before or after the accident?

After.

The Mewp overturned on the 5th June 2013

The machine was new.

Once it became apparent that there was a calibration issue, Genie released the following safety notice (as a direct result of the incident) on the 29th July 2013

The HSE report was released in March 2014

Looking at the photo, its an awful long way to have to fall.

That is absolutely terrifying to think about. Those last few seconds would be hell, knowing that whether you are going to make it or not, something is not going to be right later. I hope that his family and friends have since made peace with the loss, horrible news still.

He would of known he was a goner the moment it went over the point of balance it was at 135 ft when it came over so that's some sort of momentum. I've had many an ass clenching moment in z40 and z60. Every time I've been in anything bigger I would always come down and reposition. If you drive over a brick boomed out at 80ft the basket move about 3ft.
