Very nice indeed! I love my cherry otter tail paddles! Unless on shallow rocky rivers it's always a wooden paddle. But then, if I can't use a paddle I'd pole it.

 

For flatwater I generally use an ottertail too. Then in the shallows it's out with the ww poly on aluminium shaft. I use a pole too, mainly for moving upstream or crossing shallow bays. Can be used on open water but you get a little wet.

Nice work the lazer etching looks ace would love an etching machine of my own just think of the detail you could do how long did it take to carve

Have you ever made a canoe?

 

I looked on Ebay and there seems to be lots of ply kits available and wondered what they are like.

it was £60 to get it engraved si.

 

it took about 3 hrs to make but once i had cut out the shape from a slab i milled afew months ago i did most of the shaping with a sander.

 

Yes i have made a canoe before..........Well to tell the truth i never got it finished. i spent days shaping it and burning out the inside. but i put a tiny hole in the side of it and whilst i left it smoldering it drew in som air through the hole and caugkt light again and the whole bloody thing went up in flames.
