I am looking for a comprehensive book on trees which goes into detail about soil conditions, tolerance, pruning etc.....preferably with good photographs. Any reccommendations will be greatly appreciated

If one such book exists, then I haven't come across it. To have that much info' on a wide range of spp's and cv's would make it about 3m thick :confused1:

 

I find a combination of Hilliers and Alan Mitchells works quite well, or the RHS manuals are good, though they don't tend to have a huge amount of detail.

 

Gardening Expert series give a lot of detail but don't cover a lot of spp.

 

I think you'll find you're going to have to end up with a bit of a library to get all the info you want on any one particular tree. But I have heard that tinternet thingy is quite good for research... :lol:

 

If you want a lend of any books, gizza pm and i'll see about getting them out of the mothballs.

I would like to know if such a book exists??? the pruning of trees shrubs and conifers by george e brown or shigo's modern arboriculture is about as good as it gets,double it i spose with some hilliers and you might have what your after...
