Landys are more than capable of towing 3.5ton I have come to the conclusion towing my 2.8ton digger around, but I keep it under 35 mph and don't force anything. I'm not saying it does it easily but its perfectly capable of it. I really want to use a landcruiser for a week just to see how much better it really is. Comfort doesn't come into it for me, really doesn't fuss me at all where the driving position is or whether it has leather seats and good heating.

3500 kg is no problem behind the Amazon. 2500kg was enough behind our old Defender. Exceeding the 3500 may feel ok until a tyre or something else fails then you will struggle to keep 6.5 tonnes in a straight line. The other thing to remember is the Amazon is rated to tow more than 3500kg in other countries

The engine specs quoted above are for the newer 4.4 V8 diesel, the older squarer 70's run 4.2 Norm aspirated 6 cylinder diesels.

The 70's are superior to any other truck in my experience.

If towing diggers etc in the UK an 80 or 100 series Land Cruiser will do you proud, and tow 3.5 tonne alot more comfortably than a Defender.
