tree of heaven timber

Does anyone know if Tree of Heaven, 'Ailanthus altisssima' wood is useful for anything other than fire wood ? Stem approx. 2.5ft diameter and 8ft long. Appreciate any replies. Thanks.

excellent timber, fell it, mill it, sell it...

 

 

30" is a good size too. once dry its a good hard timber with very similar properties to ash but it's lighter in weight.

Thank you for the replies. Am in the midlands, so guessing a bit far. Will learn how to 'pm' people and measure the stem accurately so as not to waste any ones's time, although really asking on behalf of client, who will profit - any particular uses ?

more decorative than anything else but could easily be used for cabinetry or turning.

 

has been know to be used for coffin sides as it grows fast and is light in weight.
