Artic load of softwood - £1200

If it's been down for a while, it's not so bad. I had assumed that it was fresh felled. Pulpwood is just low grade softwood.

Scottish Woodlands fell all over Scotland, so should be able to sort you something out.

I find scottish woodlands expensive, would not be paying more than £35 tonne roadside from local sources, and the price quoted does not normally include vat which will be 20%, + haulage on top, if this is a bought in price you are paying that is pretty good though.

Thanks Big J. Excuse my ignorance, I gather pulp wood is just lower grade wood? Ideal for fire wood.

I will contact Scottish Woodland and see if they can give me a quote.

My first quote was 48 a tonne delivered but the timber has been felled for over a year so lower moisture content. If buying freshly felled for say (28+10 for delivery).....by volume, would it not be comparable?

Do people offer quotes by volume rather than weight?

Felled over a year, lower MC, dont be fooled. bark is pretty well waterproof so unless it has been partly stripped the only way moisture can escape is through the end grain.

A few years ago I processed up some larch, been felled 3 years, 4% on the outside end grain, 27% a foot into the length. Admitted this is drier than it would have been fresh felled but 27% will take 6 months after splitting to be ready for use. Thats to get best results out of it.

I disagree, we sometimes buy cord around 2-3 years, old it is often going into store at around 15%

That must be softwood I am cutting timber now that was felled nov 2012 and its well over 30 percent. All hardwood we don't let softwood hand around.
