subdue them with a bit of mild violence, plasticuff them, hood them up, put them in stress positions and waterboard each of them in turn with 2 stroke petrol mix.....or just call the Police whilst you have a cuppa ;)

the non-confrontational approach is the best route to take...better still, do the job very early in the morning on a saturday or sunday. These sort of people generally have trouble getting out of bed in the morning and are stoned most weekends. Jobsagudun...

Arbogrunt We did initially drop visors and armed ourselves with a silky a 200t and the 65 came out. We didn't have much 2stroke left, dyou think timberall would have the desired effect??

We turned up at six this morning which wound everyone up, apparently they don't appreciate a chipper flat out on there doorstep so early haha.

No confrontation so far :-)

SteveA the stoners were in a quiet corner giggling at nothing in particular :D

I will however remember to video it next time. Then surely any retaliation would be self defense??

Retaliation could land yourself in hot water (in the eyes of the law) but self-defence is an entirely different matter. Self-defend yourself all the way and if they run away, don't chase after them looking to give them a beating :thumbup1:

I think the most legally secure way you could physically deal with it, would be if one of your operatives is up a tree/or on the ground using a saw, another group worker could go over and attempt to remove them from the area. You have to watch how you do it, and especially how you describe what you did to the police, should it come to that.

The procedure should be the same as someone entering the work zone, requiring you to stop what you are doing. But if you are 'mid-way though' a decent, felling a branch, rigging down a section and someone is attempting to assault you by throwing a missile, it's reasonable for a member of your ground staff to push/eject the offender from the work zone. The important part is 'IF you are midway through' otherwise you will just have to stop what you are doing and wait for the police. Once you have stopped work it may be more of a civil matter of self defence, but you cannot psychically assault these scrotes in the course of doing your job, unless you do it very carefully.

When the ground worker attempts to stop them, he should only push them out of the danger zone, IF at that moment one of the offenders attempts to physically assault him, or If the ground worker has reason to suspect that the offender is about to assault him, then the ground worker is justified in using self defence. The ground worker is justified in using force, as a matter of self defence for the other workers who are midway through a dangerous action which they cannot stop.
