Top 3 specimen trees...

If you had a garden in which you could have 3 specimen mature trees of any size and from any climate, which 3 trees would you choose?

tricky one! Think i'd go with a cut leaf beech, Cedar of Lebanon, and probably a Banyan tree

I Would go with a massive copper beach and 2 other massive copper beach ....

Huge Cedrus libani - always loved the form of these trees

 

Metasequoia glyptostroboides - have one in the garden at the moment which I acquired from the bonfire of the nursery I did my school work experience at, it was apparently 'dead' but funny how I knew better even at 15... Awesome foliage throughout the seasons and interesting structural form in winter - as you can tell i like them

 

Quercus robur - just cos its quintessentially English in the landscape, although you could say the same about many other trees

I've decided mine now, could decide at the time of posting!

 

interestingly 2 of the 3 I was considering have been chosen by a few of you too!

 

1: Liriodendron tulipifera

 

2: Metasequoia glyptostroboides

 

3: Fagus sylvatica purpurea

A humongous costal redwood, a humongous mountain ash( the eucalyptus kind) and a little plum(I'll need refreshment after climbing my big trees:)

but it also depends on what is in the immediate neighborhood, am i surrounded by development, or is it a woodland edge. With a woodland backdrop, my favourite tree is Quercus coccinea, with a Davidia involucrata, and a Magnolia Grandiflora.
